Substance of Shadows is currently showing

Paul Emmanuel’s solo exhibition – Substance of Shadows is currently showing at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) Art Gallery. The opening on 11 Sept 2021 took place virtually on the UJ Art Gallery’s innovative online platform Moving Cube. This evocative new body of work signifies a major shift in the artist’s practice. Several of the art works are ‘sculptural’ 3D pieces created from carbon paper on which the artist incises the images. Emmanuel will conduct in person public walkabouts at 10.30am on the 15,18,22 September and 2 October. Emmanuel’s art works, his video films, Artist Statement together with additional texts are available for viewing.

Substance of Shadows

Johannesburg based artist Paul Emmanuel’s solo exhibition of new work – Substance of Shadows is currently showing at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) Art Gallery.

The opening on 11 September 2021 took place virtually on the UJ Art Gallery’s innovative online platform Moving Cube, with Michele Constant in conversation with Emmanuel about what informs his work. This evocative new body of work signifies a major shift in the artist’s practice. Several of the art works are ‘sculptural’ 3D pieces created from carbon paper on which the artist incises the images. Emmanuel will conduct in person public walkabouts at 10.30am on the 15,18,22 September with the final one on 2 October which is the closing date of the exhibition. Bookings are essential. Emmanuel’s art works, his video films, Artist Statement together with additional texts are available for viewing here.
