This cultural heritage provides future generations with an identity, a connection to their background and insights into the past. Unique San art – now part of a global cultural heritage with artists such as Baines, Bhengu, Pemba have left us a legacy. Contemporary artists like Esther Mhalangu is ensuring Ndebele culture survives for future generations. Curating in a multi-cultural globalized world requires museums and curators to change their approach, re-contextualize displays and present more culturally informed exhibitions. New VR technologies offer visitors interactive, immersive experiences. Threats to cultural heritage and innovative commercially sustainable corporate projects preserving cultural places, customs and crafts for the future are discussed.
